Imagine Dragons' debut full length album, Night Visions, is kinda OK. It is rare to see me listening to such rock record but this one feels good in the ears (and since it is nominated for some Grammys, so why not review it, right?). Released in 2012, the album has surpassed its one year mark in Billboard and it is still rocking it. According to my source, the album has sold 1.7 million copies as of this month in the US alone.
Kicking off Night Visions is the post-apocalyptic anthem, 'Radioactive', which is probably the most hardcore track of the record. 'It's Time', the third track is the song that catapulted the band's name into the limelight (what more can you ask for when Glee decided to cover it for their show!). Other than those two, another two tracks that keep me obsessing with this record are 'Demons' and 'On Top of the World'.
But despite the glossy singles production and album concept, this record still got some blemishes to cover. There's no core theme and there are just too much sonic styles in its production. I would love to see them do a lot of 'Radioactive' instead of producing stuffs that sound a lot like The Killers.
Hopefully the second album will be better and darker.
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
