Single Review | Charlie Puth - One Call Away

Charlie Puth
One Call Away - Single
Atlantic
Release date: August 21, 2015

After working secretly for many months, Charlie Puth has revealed the first single (technically, it is the second single after ‘Marvin Gaye) off his impending debut LP.

‘One Call Away’, the opener track for Nine Track Mind, is a catchy tune about being the hero to the lady of his dream: “I’ll be there to save the day, Superman got nothing on me, I’m only one call away.”

Confident lad, eh?

Anyway, will this be another mammoth hit for Puth? Nah, I don’t think so. ‘See You Again’ was a monster hit earlier this year, so, it is highly doubtful if he can crack the top 10 again with such pop-ish tune. Don’t get me wrong, I love this and it’s pretty good, but where’s the X factor?

Top 40, hopefully?

‘One Call Away’ can be downloaded right away once you pre-order his album, due November 6 via Atlantic.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
