Where has he been? Mike Posner has kept a low profile since his 2010’s massive hit, ‘Cooler Than Me’ (which, FYI, I still listen to every now and then). Yesterday, the Duke graduate released his new EP, and boy; it is so different than his last effort.
The Truth compiled four tracks off Posner’s upcoming sophomore effort and described by the man himself as “… best listened to the way they were written: at night, and alone.”
There are four tracks off this EP: ‘I Took a Pill in Ibiza’, ‘Buried in Detroit’, ‘Not That Simple’, and ‘Be As You Are’.
Comment: I love all four! He’s singing self-uplifting anthems and dealing with fame and post-fame. Pretty much an all-rounded record about his self-journey.
And did we tell ya, there’s no more club bangers, but a lot of folk-like pop music. You either like it or hate it.
To be honest, for me, this one signals a maturing and a much confident Posner, and no longer a heartbroken lad. I mean, remember when he calls out his ex’s name in ‘Cheated’? Savage! Haha!
Anyway, The Truth is a fitting EP to showcases his upcoming release. After spending so many years writing hits for other musicians (his latest no.1 is Maroon 5’s ‘Sugar’), he is confident enough to release his own new music.
You can buy the EP now on iTunes. You won't regret it.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
