Single Review | Dami Im - Gladiator

Dami Im
Gladiator - Single
Sony
Release date: August 8, 2014

Relatively unknown in our region, Dami Im, is a Korean singer who migrated to Australia at the age of nine and marked her name by winning the fifth season of The X Factor Australia. Her stomping single and this blog's new inspiration, 'Gladiator', is off her third LP, Heart Beats.

This single is a mid-tempo ballad that deals with the topic of female empowerment and chasing your own love instead of waiting for a man to save you.

Produced by the Trinity (Johan Gustafson, Fredrik Häggstam and Sebastian Lundberg), this song is super strong, thanks to Im's impressive vocal ability and the radio-friendly production, which sounds similar to the works done by Sia and Katy Perry.

I seriously don't understand why it is so hard for non-American to penetrate the mainstream music industry which lacks in good products for the past decade.

Anyway, 'Gladiator' is a killer track and I do agree, this song does put you in the mood for world domination. Regardless of the Korean-cum-the-Last-Airbender theme of the music video (I'm not a fan, sorry, Im), give this a spin and I know you'll love it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.
