Music Video Review | Jennifer Lopez - Booty (feat. Iggy Azalea)

Jennifer Lopez
Booty (feat. Iggy Azalea) - Single
Capitol
Release date: August 26, 2014 (Single) / September 18, 2014 (Music Video)

'Tis undoubtedly the season of the 'Booty' and JLo's long-awaited video for her tushie anthem finally drops (pun intended).

As well-expected, the video does not skimp on the derrière one bit. Featuring two of the hottest women in the industry, the Hype Williams directed piece showcases the leading ladies at their physical best – their glutei maximi all sleek and perky to put on a good show. It could easily give reigning Queen of (S)Ass Nicki Minaj's 'Anaconda' a run for the money but unfortunately in our eyes... it doesn't.

In fact it fares worse than Nicki's rear offering, which come to  think of it comes off  way classier and way more creative now than how we remember it. First up, for a song that celebrates the behind, 'Booty' shows a whole lot of sidebutt, which honestly is not a good angle to measure the voluptuousness of the bum. Secondly, all the quick flashes of the fanny instead of slow motion focused shots again defeats the purpose of the song. Next, perhaps in an effort to stay relevant in the current industry where the next singer is even more risqué than the one before, the veteran JLo has decided to stoop as low as to appear as nothing but a prop in a masochist rap video. Iggy Iggs on the other hand was a visual saving grace.

Comparing 'Booty' with 'Anaconda' is ultimately inevitable and this battle of the booty, Nicki wins buns down.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars.
