Music Video Review | Madonna - Ghosttown

Madonna

Madonna's ballad off of Rebel Heart gets a ghostly treatment befitting a feature film.

The Queen of Pop proves she never ages in 'Ghosttown”, the second single from her latest LP, playing a lonely survivor in a large city after a worldwide nuclear catastrophe. Dressed up like a vampire (I was expecting her fangs to come out any minute but they never did), she roams around the barren land looking for nothing in particular. However, that's when she finds love in Terrence Howard (currently on top for playing Lucious Lyon on Empire), another survivor of the global nuclear fallout. After both of them go on defence mode, him pointing his rifle at her and her ready to swing her club, they realise they are just two souls in a ghost town and decide to beautifully dance it out. That's when they are joined by another two survivors, a cute little boy and a dog, and afterwards they walk into the deserted post-apocalyptic world hand-in-hand together as a family – cause they are living for love and all.

Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the casting choice of Terrence is so typical of music videos to rope in television personalities who are at their peak at the moment. It's an okay choice but Mr. Lyon definitely looks a lot puffier in the video than in the show. I wonder what happened.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.
