Music Video Review | Gwen Stefani - Spark the Fire

Gwen Stefani
Spark the Fire - Single
Interscope
Release date: December 1, 2014 (Single / Music Video)

Gwen Stefani continues her clamour to cash in on her stint on The Voice by rush-releasing another lacklustre single from her upcoming third LP.

Honestly I'm not even sure what's going on with Gwen here. She completely reminds me of a mother who's trying too hard to fit in with her children and failing super hard. Her current look is definitely not doing her any good and just makes her look out of place with the current trends. She might be trying to be a trendsetter again but I kinda think the ship has already sailed.

Produced by Pharrell, the track's music video is also somewhat similar to the producer's own video for his recent song “It Girl” with the usage of emojis and other colourful caricatures. Dancing with her girlfriends in the club and on the street to some of the most ridiculous lyrics ever, it is apparent that Gwen's comeback is failing miserably compared to others who are making an appearance again this year, namely Fergie with her audio geography lesson, 'LA Love'.

Not sure which music realm Gwen is in right now but it's obvious what matters at this time is either you're Taylor Swift or you sing about your butt if you want to make it big.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars.
