LP Review | Jon McLaughlin - Holding My Breath

Jon McLaughlin
Holding My Breath
(Independent)
Release date: September 24, 2013

Fully funded by his fan and partially backed by PledgeMusic, Jon McLaughlin released his latest album, Holding My Breath, a pop-record that being described as "like its predecessor, doesn't betray its independent origin in the slightest."

The album tells a classic tale of love and heartbreak. Tracks like 'Doesn't Mean Goodbye', 'Broken Hearted', 'The Truth' and 'Anybody Else' showcase McLaughlin's vulnerable heart. Holding My Breath is somewhat deep and positively affecting the listener (i.e, me) and from what I heard from his fans and critics, this is McLaughlin's best work and the most daring record he has ever designed.

It boggles my mind that his works aren't as successful as the works done by artists with his similar style (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, etc). Nonetheless, he can definitely write songs, and with God-given sexy voice and handsome look, McLaughlin certainly can go against the mainstream hitters if we give him a chance.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
