LP Review | Charli XCX - True Romance

Charli XCX

Earlier this year, an EDM-inspired song, Icona Pop's 'I Love It' charted all over the world and the genius behind the song, Charli XCX, a mere 20 year old then, was thrown into the spotlight and her name soar pretty high. I'm not a big fan of the song but when everyone is playing it 24/7 (by "everyone" I mean, my officemate), it is hard not to sing along to it while working.

True Romance is Charli XCX's debut pop album and it has met tremendous accolades by critics and fans of British music. Infusing 90s pop with a hint of her goth-like eclectic personality, True Romance is a truly chic album that's definitely worth listening to.

From 'Nuclear Seasons', 'Set Me Free', 'What I Like' and the 80's influenced 'Lock You Up', the album is pretty much created for every electronic fans. Sure it isn't brilliant as Lorde's Pure Heroine or bubblegum pop-ish as Lady Gaga's ARTPOP, but still, True Romance is one hell of a debut record.

Do preview her songs before buying this album. It is a very niche album, thus, you may like it or loathe it.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.
