LP Review | Twenty One Pilots - Vessel

Twenty One Pilots
Vessel
Fueled by Ramen Records
Release date: January 8, 2013

Vessel is the first full length release by a Columbus-based duo, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots. This album is filled with new materials with a mix from their previous independent released LPs, Twenty One Pilots and Regional at Best.

Being described as having a style that brings "distinctive fusion of piano-driven schizoid pop and lyrical uplift," Twenty One Pilots is giving you a well-made pop record that's gonna keep you listening over and over.

I have a few favorites from this record: 'Ode to Sleep', 'Holding On To You', 'House of Gold', 'Car Radio', 'Trees' and 'Guns For Hands'. From their drum beats, rapping, electro-esque sonic and techno pop - this album is surely gonna keep your feet tapping from start to finish.

As the duo's first major release, this album is making them one band to watch out for. Their refreshing style of mixing multiple genres is making them one of the greatest new band discovered this year. Who cares if you're a huge fan of pop or hip hop or rock - this is one album you'll fancy for months to come (and your ears won't hurt from excessive computer-generated EDM mix!).

BTW, if you're looking for a meaning behind it, Vessel is an album with a message: if you're unhappy and depressed, well that's okay, it's normal - we're human after all. This album is a joyous record and a lot of fun to listen to. After your first spin, you'll have it on repeat (guarenteed!).

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
