Single Review | Madonna - Devil Pray

Madonna

Interscope / Boy Toy / Live Nation
Release date: December 20, 2014

Mother of all pop stars, Madonna, has unveiled six tracks from her upcoming album, Rebel Heart, and while I couldn't care less about the Diplo-produced first single, 'Living for Love', I am much intrigued with the second track in the track list, 'Devil Pray'.

The ominous sexy track talks about asking for God to save her as she's drown in the world of drug and booze. Listen closely and you'll see that this is a reminiscence of Madonna's works in early Millennium. It's addictive, reminds me a lot of 'Miles Away' and 'Masterpiece'.

Anyway, this track (alongside 'Living for Love, 'Ghosttown', 'Illuminati', 'Unapologetic Bitch' and 'Bitch I'm Madonna) is a part of her thirteenth LP and was released prematurely in response to the leak which happened earlier this week.

“I was hoping to release my new single ‘Living For Love’ on Valentine’s Day with the rest of the album coming in the spring,” Madonna explained in a press release posted on her official website. “I would prefer my fans to hear completed versions of some of the songs instead of the incomplete tracks that are circulating. Please consider these six songs as an early Christmas gift.”

Side note: thanks for the gift, Madonna. Rebel Heart will be released in March and currently available for pre-order in iTunes.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
