Single Review | Tove Lo - Habits

Tove Lo
Habits - Single
Universal
Release date: March 25, 2013

During her trip to Australia, Ms. Hilary Duff introduced us her current favourite song which is Tove Lo, 'Habits'. As usual, I decided to YouTube the track and got addicted to it!

The singer du jour, Tove Ebba Elsa Nilsson, is a Swedish singer-cum-songwriter who wrote for Icona Pop and Girls Aloud previously. There's not much to know about her yet but I do foresee a not-so-distant future where she'll be another huge act of the year given the sudden break in mainstream charts by many many many anti-pop tracks.

'Habits' or alternatively known as 'Habits (Stay High)' is a psychedelic tune about, well, getting high and drunk in order to escape your problems in life (AKA reality). It explores the idea of indulgence and excess in the most bland way. Kinda like a depressing version of Ke$ha's 'Tik Tok' - but better!

Anyway, the song is pretty dope. The remixed versions, especially by Hippie Sabotage or another one by the Chainsmokers, are also very good. The simple tune is easy to listen to and definitely a different experience then the recent outpouring of pop songs.

Listen to the track below and drop me a comment, fellas!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
