Music Video Review | Christina Perri - Burning Gold

Christina Perri
Burning Gold - Single
Atlantic
Release date: June 9, 2014 (Single) / August 1, 2014 (Music Video)

Miss Perri, known for her many hits before ('Human', 'A Thousand Years', and 'Jar of Hearts'), is back with a new video for her uplifting single, 'Burning Gold'.

This song, one of my favourites in her new LP, is an infectious anthem about pushing yourself and follow your dream. It is energetic and uptempo - pretty much a definite radio hit (with the right promotional, of course).

Anyway. Perri showcases her new sleek hair and super short and awkward bang in the video for 'Burning Gold'. The premise is pretty simple: an aspiring waitress met a producer, became a huge pop sensation, he cheated on her, and she spread her wings and fly solo. Cliché, though, don't you think?

First of all: hate the new do. Her new image for Head or Heart is already awesome, does she really have to cut her bang that short? Unf.

Secondly: the outfits in this video are to-die-for, especially that last wavy dress which reminds me of the 60's hippie era. Nonetheless, most of 'em are ruined by her tattoos (too much, I guess. Sorry, Perri).

Thirdly: I LOVE the cinematic feel of this video, so congrats to the director for this! They could've done something simpler but this one is way grander than any of Perri's previous videos.

Conclusively, I think my review is all about her image, but still, the video is kinda awesome, so y'all should watch it below!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
