Last night's Eurovision Song Contest is indeed one of the best I've seen in the last couple of years!
Conchita Wurst, a drag queen representing Austria, won the competition with 290 points, the highest among 26 countries that are performing in last night's grand finale. Her song, 'Rise Like A Phoenix', an ode to the LGBT community all around Europe, won the hearts of so many spectators during the live telecast.
"This night is dedicated to everyone who believes in a future of peace and freedom. We are unity. We are unstoppable," she said before singing her winning song after being crowned as the winner.
Anyway, last night is not just about Wurst. There are a few more performances that caught my eyes.
This collection LP by Various Artists got all 37 songs that are representing 37 European countries. I have a lot of favorites, among 'em are Teo (awesome dance track, a lot like Thicke's 'Blurred Lines'), Twin Twin (the most Hipster song of the night), Freaky Fortune (this one got me jumping), My Slowianie (y'all should checkout their performance - very porn-like), Aram MP3 (my bet to win), Basim (European version of Bruno Mars - albeit much more cuter), Ruth Lorenzo (epic vocal), and Sanna Nielsen (my friend's favorite song, apparently).
Plus, last year's winner, Emmelie de Forest, also contributed a track for this album, 'Rainmaker', which featured as the official song for this year's competition.
So, yea, if you're a fan of European's various musical styles, then this collection is definitely for you!
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.
