Single Review | Chvrches - Leave A Trace

Chvrches
Leave A Trace - Single
Virgin / Glassnote

Scottish synth-pop trio, Chvrches, has officially released the first single off their new album, Every Open Eye (mark it: September 25!).

‘Leave A Trace’ is a euphoric synth pop track, it sounds as vibrant as their hit single, ‘The Mother We Share’, and is about frustration.

In an interview with Pitchfork, Lauren Mayberry (lead singer) said this song is the nastiest track in their new LP and it is “…the middle finger mic-drop. It’s about that point where you’re like, “There’s no point having this conversation anyways: There will be no resolve, I won’t feel better about it, you won’t feel better about it, no outcome from this will actually change my reality.” It makes me feel better to write about that - I’ve done something constructive with it. You don’t put that on other people, you put that into what you do. That’s always the way I’ve written lyrics. My ex-partners are not friends with me, but I’m OK with that.”

Woah.

Anyway, I started listening to ‘em about a month ago and have been obsessed with their debut album. Too bad I missed ‘em when they came to Kuala Lumpur about two years ago. #Regret

Whatever it is, listen to the “snidest” tune below and drop me a comment while you're at it!
