Have you heard the good news? Kelly Clarkson brought her new record to the top of Billboard 200. Bad news: I don't like the album.

Clarkson has been one of the biggest superstars on Earth since 2002 and frankly speaking, she's probably the only winner of American Idol I truly truly love (Underwood? LOL. Bye). But, Piece by Piece is so dull to the extend that I'm thinking of screaming to Kelly: WHY?!

Something feels off with this record 'cos I tend to think the producers wrapped it way too soon (rush?) and I do think Kelly should hold on for a little while. Lemme say this: Kelly's voice is amazing in this but this album is painfully static. It's not bad per se, but it isn't as good as her previous works.

I mean, after a few listening sessions, I came to this conclusion: you'll either love it or hate it. Scout honour!

The reason of why I said that is because I fully noted that there's no progression within the record. From 'Heartbeat Song' to the final 'Good Goes the Bye', this whole collection seems like countless of songs she did before and it is just tiresome.

With all that being said, Piece by Piece is still a generally good record - IF you're looking for something a young Kelly would do. One noteworthy track chosen by yours truly: 'Run Run Run', a song she did with the amazing John Legend.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars.
