Music Video Review | Charli XCX - Doing It (feat. Rita Ora)

Charli XCX
Doing It (feat. Rita Ora) - Single
Atlantic / Asylum / Neon Gold
Release date: February 3, 2015 (Single) / January 20, 2015 (Music Video)

Charli XCX continues her girl power domination of the charts by teaming up with Rita Ora for her third single off of her debut LP Sucker.

Inspired by the infamous duo Thelma and Louise, Charli XCX and Rita Ora play a couple of British bandits on the run from the law after robbing a convenience store. They have a lot of fun along the way in Spring Breakers style, the video’s retro 70s West Coast trailer trash visuals perfectly befitting the throwback sound of the track.

Rita’s sultry vocals complement Charli’s perfectly, proving their chemistry and making the reworked song one of the standout numbers from the album. The two bombshells are also chased by two police officers while ‘Doing It’, who are not able to apprehend the two outlaws and instead become strippers and join the girls to ride a mechanical bull in their party. Well, all’s well that ends well.

p/s: Hate the reminder of the future of party animals in speedo.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
