LP Review | Meghan Trainor - Title

Meghan Trainor

2014's biggest name and owner to the forever-playing-in-the-radio-hit 'All About That Bass', Meghan Trainor, has officially released her debut album and here's my say on it.

Thoroughly speaking, Title is a pretty packed-up album with goodie doo-wop pop songs that pretty much resemble to her chart-topper hit. This 35-minute long LP will transport you to the heydays of Americana pop songs, I mean, try visualise yourself in the set of Hairspray. Good news: you'll enjoy it. Bad news: it is rather forgettable.

Thematically, the album speaks highly of feminism and love. Thanks to her signature sound, she delivers the whole album in a very sassy punk attitude (throw your hips left and right, flip hair, and give your haters the side eye - yes, THAT attitude).

Anyway. Some of my favourite tracks here are '3am', the funky 'Bang Dem Sticks', 'Walkashame' and two more tracks from her previous same-titled EP; 'Dear Future Husband' and 'Title'.

Slow number like 'Close Your Eyes' is a pretty nice break from the many heads turning tracks, but 'Like I'm Gonna Lose You', a song she recorded with John Legend, and 'What If I' are super forgettable, I'm not sure whether I should like those or not.

To be honest, hearing 'Bass' the most part of 2014 ruined the song for me. I'm skipping that track, alongside 'Lips Are Movin'. Sorry not sorry, Meghan.

FYI, in another news, she's bringing the album to a live stadium setting. The Bass Tour will kick off later this year and I'm hoping for a very surreal-like 60s set that'll get us grooving throughout the night. Side note: come to Malaysia, please!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
