Music Video Review | Sam Hunt - Leave the Night On

Sam Hunt
Leave the Night On - Single
MCA Nashville
Release date: June 16, 2014 (Single) / July 9, 2014 (Music Video)

So, Taylor Swift has left country for pop, so, who's left to fill the easy breezy country-cum-pop wagon with that eye candy appeal? Well, we would like to introduce you to Sam Hunt!

This football player and all around hunk (and somewhat he looks like those guys in porn videos) has released his second single, 'Leave the Night On', following his Twitter-rant controversy over the song Keith Urban sang at the Grammy earlier this year.

Anyway. This song is pretty laid-back and it can easily crossover to mainstream pop chart thanks to its pop-ish melody unlike those twang-heavy country tunes. Plus, the chorus itself got so many words I'd consider him semi-rapping through it. Haha.

Still. Despite currently being in the Billboard 100's top 40, 'Leave the Night On' is not a standout among today's endless pop waves and I'm not convinced. Hopefully his next single will be much awesome than this one.

Oh. I totally forgot to comment on the video!

The music video is cute yet ridiculous. How? Well, he's playing a yellow taxi driver who drives drunk people home. The plot revolves around that (pickup passengers, eat pizzas, gas-station, party people, etc) and it's kinda funny - in a bad way. His face may have saved the video, but, nothing could actually make me replay this video for the second time.

If only he went shirtless, that'd warrant another point. Haha.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
