Coldplay's Ghost Stories has finally released and I, for once, am excited for this one.
To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of the group, but I do have my fair share of memory with some of their biggest hits: 'Viva La Vida', 'Yellow' and my absolute favourite, 'The Scientist'.
The truth: I love the electronica aspect of Ghost Stories. Tracks like 'Magic', 'O', 'Oceans' and 'A Sky Full of Stars' are some of the strongest tracks in this long play.
But. I kinda hate the fact that this album is more of a Chris Martin's diary instead of a story. The major theme of this record is definitely the sorrow of love, and you can't help but to think this is all about losing Gwyneth, etc.
Still, Martin is the definite master of lyricism. He knows how to break your heart and tap into that deepest fear you have in your relationship.
Overall, Ghost Stories is a great album with great songs. Not many of you might like it well thanks to the jump from rock to electric, but it works well here. I know they're pretty far from their normal style, but heck, they have the right to create whatever music they wanna do, no?
Ghost Stories is available is iTunes and major record stores worldwide.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
P/s: Brandy's version of 'Magic' is, as the word said, magic! Give it a listen, folks!
