Single Review | Britney Spears - Private Show

Britney Spears
Private Show - Pre-Order Track
RCA
Release date: August 4, 2016

By Shawal Ras

'Private Show', the first teaser off Britney Spears' ninth studio album Glory is so weird, sexy, and fun - all at the same time!

The track, which came together once you pre-ordered the album, is kinda odd, to be honest. Throughout the song's four-minutes play, her vocal is in constant change (from high and shrieking, to really low and deep) and you can't help but to smile at a certain point (prime example: when she's commanding you to strut it out, like a drill sergeant).

Sonically, it's a doo-wop inspired slow jam. “Pull the curtains until they close / I put on a private show / Boy watch me work it / Slide down my pole, watch me spin it and twerk it," the singer croons as she gave her beau a lap-dance (if this sounds like a pervy statement, I apologise in advance).

Also, worth nothing: 'Private Show' is produced by Young Fyre, an up-and-coming music producer in the hip hop scene (see T-Pain's Revolver), and co-written by Carla Marie, the woman who is responsible for that whole cheeky vibe in some of the UK's finest acts, such as Girls Aloud and the Saturdays. She's also one of the writers for Beyoncé-assisted Naughty Boy's hot single, 'Runnin' (Lose it All)'.

Like what I've discussed in last night's Pop Disqus, Glory is set to be Britney's most experimental offering since Blackout
