Single Review | Lana Del Rey - Honeymoon

Lana Del Rey
Honeymoon - Single
Interscope / Polydor
Release date: July 14, 2015

After weeks of teasers, the queen is back! Lana Del Rey kicks off her new era with the release of her long-anticipated opus, 'Honeymoon', off her upcoming LP, due in September.

As usual, Del Rey sings about her complicated and tragic love story: “We both know that it’s not fashionable to love me, but you don’t go cause truly there’s nobody for you but me,” she sings, accompanied mostly by sombre strings.

It's a pretty slow track, to be honest, but it is definitely heavily influenced by her magnum opus (and her best-selling record to date),
 Born to Die

“We could cruise to the blues Wilshire Boulevard if we choose. Or whatever you want to do, we make the rules.”

This girl is today's definitive songwriter, I tell ya. She's an expert in tragic love, and it works for her sonic style.

Whether you hate it or love it, I don't care, it's obvious she'll get the full five stars from moi.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.
