Music Video Review | Giorgio Moroder - Déjà Vu (feat. Sia)

Giorgio Moroder
Déjà Vu (feat. Sia) - Single
RCA
Release date: April 17, 2015 (Single) / May 6, 2015 (Music Video)

Disco veteran Giorgio Moroder teams up with blonde bob goddess Sia for a catchy summer anthem with an eerie emvee.

Officially returning to the music scene after 30 years with his LP Déjà Vu, the Italian spinmaster of yesteryears proves that he's still got the spunk that propelled him to stardom many years ago. Featuring collaborations with some of the most famous names of current times including the one and only Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue and Charlie XCX, the album is set to inject more disco into the unfolding summer music landscape. Meanwhile, the newly-released, titular, second single from the LP features Australian diva Sia who gamely delivers her best haunting vocals to fit the track's lyrics.

The spooky video begins by showing upcoming actor with gorgeous eyes Drew Lipson in a taxi with none other than Giorgio himself as a seasoned driver who gives the protagonist some friendly advice about women. The visuals then unfold to show – you guessed it – a woman in signature Sia blonde bob wig as the main man's leading lady. However more doppelgängers of the blonde-bob lady begin to appear in various outfits to toy with Drew, replaying the scenes with a different lady each time as he continues to chase after his girl. The video then ends with all of the doppelgängers chasing him out of the hotel where he went looking for them. All this is done to have a mysterious ambience yet tastefully disco.

The quote, in case you miss it:

“Well I can tell you, the girls who make a shadow - if you follow them, they flee. If you flee, they follow you."

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
