Music Video Review | Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence

Lana Del Rey
Ultraviolence - Single
Polydor / Interscope
Release date: June 4, 2014 (Single) / July 30, 2014 (Music Video)

Oh wow, Lana Del Rey's new music video is such a snooze fest!

A little background: 'Ultraviolence' is the title song of her third studio album, released to the public last month to a huge first-week sales (800,000 worldwide, 180,000 in the US alone!) and a spot atop the Billboard 200.

The single was applauded by critics and fans alike, but nothing prepares us for the actual video.

'Ultraviolence' kicks off with Del Rey in the wood wearing a short white dress and she's putting on her veil. Pretty much like a scene from 60's cheap porn film. Then she walks out of the wood to the nearest chapel, and... that was it.

I repeat: THAT WAS IT!

Frankly speaking, I am disappointed with this video. Other than the snooze-fest storyline, the video is also blurry in terms of quality (I heard it was shot using an iPhone) and yea, where's the cinematic aura we're so used to seeing in her previous works?

Ugh. I really hope she'll do the best she can in her next music video. We're dying for some expensive product from her!

Rating: 0 out of 5 stars.
