LP Review | Yuna - Nocturnal

Yuna
Nocturnal
Verve Records
Release date: October 29, 2013

By Shawal Ras

Malaysian-based singer/songwriter, Yuna, released her second international album, Nocturnal, yesterday. I had a chance to listen to it and you know what, I love it. I think Nocturnal is her best album to date. The whole album ignites the whole Oriental-feeling to it, especially in 'Mountains' (this is my favorite track in the album) and it is mixed together with R&B, pop and indie. This is her debut album with the legendary music label, Verve, and based from this record, I think she'll be the next big thing next year.

LP Review | Katy Perry - PRISM

Katy Perry
PRISM
Capitol Records
Release date: October 18, 2013

By Shawal Ras

I just got Katy Perry's new album, PRISM. Truthfully, I don't love the new record at all. Why? Well, there's a lack in good tracks (this one can't match the versatility of Teenage Dream). There's no strong track in this album other than 'Roar'. Love it? No. Hate it? Apparently, no. There are few tracks that I kinda like; 'Walking on Air', 'This is How We Do' and 'By the Grace of God'. I don't know why Perry chose 'Unconditinally' as her second single 'cos I would've chose the promo single instead, 'Walking on Air' (hey, that 70s vibe is so cool, y'know).

Anyway, is you're a serious Katy Cat fan, please buy her album at the nearest record store or via iTunes.

LP Review | Miley Cyrus - Bangerz

Miley Cyrus
Bangerz
RCA Records
Release date: October 4, 2013

By Shawal Ras

Miley Cyrus' fourth album, Bangerz, is currently available for streaming via iTunes. For me, after spending my 50 minutes listening to it on my way to work, the album is kinda good. Is it Grammy's Album of the Year material? Probably not. But still, it's a good album to satisfy her haters and lovers. The album infused pop with a bit of hip hop and rock, but there's no EDM (so, it's a good thing). My advice, get this album and listen to it. At least you'll enjoy this record more than Rihanna's Unapologetic (I still stand by my tweet; 'Diamonds' is one single that'll fit a greatest hits instead of being shoved into such an awful record).
