French-born Portuguese singer, Mickael Carreira, bestowed upon us his fifth full-length record called Viver a Vida (released mid-2012) and truth be told, I am not fully inspired by this record at all.

Kicking off this album is a very Miami-inspired hit, 'Dança Comigo', a track that'll surely get you off the dining table and start dancing and shaking those God-given hips. But, like being prematurely ejaculated during foreplay, Viver a Vida threw us right into the comfy bed and shoved a bottle of sleeping pills right into our body. This record contains primarily ballads starting from the second track right up until the eleventh track followed by a solo version of 'Dança Comigo' again, which is the last track in this album.

Sure, some of the ballads, such as 'Porque Ainda Te Amo' and 'Volto a Ti', are kinda good, but none of those are able to replicate the adrenaline-pumping rush we got from the first track. As a non-Portuguese speaker, I would love to listen to a lot of danceable tunes, not sappy tracks that'll teach me a new language while I'm going through the dictionary (or Google Translate) just to understand them.

So, based on what I've written above, it is easy to say that Viver a Vida is not up to my expectation. To those who are looking for great danceable tunes, this is not it, but if you just got through a bad breakup or divorce, yes, buy 'em.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars.
