Music Video Review | Lana Del Rey - Freak

Interscope / Polydor
Release date: February 9, 2016 (Single / Music Video)

'Freak', the third single off Lana Del Rey's latest opus, Honeymoon, has been released in a music video format and I'm not sure what is it about but I think I'm high.
The video, something I'd describe as a lengthy short film, is pretty much a showcase of orgy-esque dreamy visuals, with pretty girls, white fog, and umm, the beautiful artist herself, Lana Del Rey (alongside her co-star, Father John Misty).

I'm gonna be honest and blunt, I don't like this. Despite the slow motion and 60's cinematheque settings, it feels horribly edited and some scenes jump around without proper transition. It may be intentional, but so damn annoying.

But. The second half of the video lives up to its 'Freak' aura. It features the underwater nymphs (as seen in 'Music to Watch Boys to') dancing to Claude Debussy's 'Claire de Lune'.

Not sure what's the connection, but umm, okay. Watch below!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars.
