Music Video Review | Miike Snow - Genghis Khan

Miike Snow
Genghis Khan - Single
Jackalope
Release date: January 12, 2016 (Single / Music Video)

Hands down this new video by Swedish indie pop band Miike Snow has to be the quirkiest yet sweetest emvee we've seen in a while.
Inspired by the sexual tension often present in espionage movies between the supervillain and the suave spy (case in point: the chemistry between Daniel Craig's Bond and Javier Bardem's villainous Raoul in Skyfall was the talk of the town), the music video tells the story of an unconventional antihero who has captured a debonair secret agent and is contemplating whether to end him or not. In between we are also shown that the mischief-maker is unhappy at home, albeit having a picture-perfect traditional family.

Soon we are shown that the villain's heart truly lies with the flamboyant spy and the latter feels the same way towards the former too. They express their love for each other with a special dance and the video ends with a new kind of picture-perfect family; but not without a glimpse of a new villain at large.

p/s: Apparently Genghis Khan was infamous for his jealousy and paranoia, hence the title of the track. And also note the bedside martini! We're sure it was shaken and not stirred ;)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.
