LP Review | Girls Aloud - Ten

Girls Aloud
Ten
Polydor
Release date: November 26, 2012

By Shawal Ras

UK's all-time best selling girl group, Girls Aloud, has parted ways for good but that doesn't mean the fans (including me) will shove their CDs into the charity box anytime soon. Blessed their good hearts, the girls released one final compilation (and a very beautifully done farewell tour) and it's perfect!

Ten comprises of 18 tracks in the standard edition, in which 14 are their former hits from the past ten years and another four new tracks for the sake of their fanatic fans! If you're a huge fan of them, you'll love this compilation because it is rare to have a great retrospective collection of engineered pop hits from a single group in one album. Tracks like 'Sound of the Underground', 'Jump', 'Can't Speak French', 'Call the Shots' and the oh-so-60's 'The Promise' will get you dancing and singing loudly, even while riding the metro.

New tracks, such as 'Something New', 'On the Metro' and 'Beautiful 'Cause You Love Me' doesn't really sound like Girls Aloud but still, they're great additions to this LP.

It is safe to say, if you wanna reminisce hits from the early millenium, you will definitely popping up this CD into the player right away. There has never been a pop group that really defined what Euro-pop is to most of us non-European: cheesy, yet beautifully crafted.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
