Single Review | Connell Cruise - Into the Wild

Connell Cruise
Into the Wild – Single
Island
Release date: February 24, 2015

By Shawal Ras

South African’s next pop star, Connell Cruise, is making his US debut with a very anthemic and ethnically feel-good single, ‘Into the Wild’.

This single is hook-filled and pretty much takes you into the set of The Lion King the moment the verse “ooo-eh-oh-eh-oh” starts, such a joyous chant with some euphoric fondness to it.

I’m feeling this, you guys. I tell ya, I love it.

In an article online, Cruise said the song is all about the Big Apple, not actually about his hometown, stating: “I’m a South African, and my song ‘Into the Wild’ has all the African feel but it’s really always been about New York. To me, New York is the wildest place on Earth..."

Seriously guys, watch the lyric video below and tell us what you think of it in the comment box (also below)!

‘Into the Wild’ will be included in Cruise’s similarly-titled EP, out July 31.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.
