One of the best bands I've had the luck of watching live was Neon Trees during the Animal era and I can't be any more excited with the bold step lead singer Tyler Glenn has taken with their latest offering 'Songs I Can't Listen To'.

Admit it, all of us who have been in a relationship that had unfortunately turned sour know this for a fact – there are some songs that we can't listen to without recalling the ex (in case you'd like to know my personal kryptonite is this one). It is really refreshing for musicmakers to admit this influence they have over us and actually produce a song that addresses it.

Besides the song's relatability , the video also holds another significance – it is the lead singers's official coming out video to the masses albeit having been openly gay since last year. The video also stars Tom Daley's Oscar winning boyfriend Dustin Lance Black as the rocker's significant other as we are taken through a ride from their happier times to trouble in paradise. Coinciding with the Pride Month, the video presents a simple storyline relatable by all, just like its lyrics.

I have one qualm tho: why did they edit out the kiss?! Baby steps, I guess.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.
