Music Video Review | Marina and the Diamonds - Froot

Marina and the Diamonds
Froot - Single
Atlantic
Release date: November 11, 2014 (Single) / October 10, 2014 (Music Video)

Marina's lead single for her third album finally has a video and boy what a 'Froot'-ful wait!

Leaving behind her 'Primadonna' and 'Homewrecker' phase of life – clearly marked by the non-existence of her tiny heart sticker below her left eye – Marina embarks on a classier, much more glamorous image for her TBR latest album Froot. The video features Marina singing invested lines like “I've been saving all my summers for you” to a man while he stays emotion-less, not responding to her reaching out.

Set in strategically-lit rooms with 30s and 40s themes of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, the Diamond Princess appears in various sparkly-chic ensembles that accentuate her curves while her expressions stay priceless. As a throwback to the image used in the song's audio release and of course the name of the song itself, she also dons a pair of shiny gold pineapple earrings.

May be slightly underwhelming but superbly done with class and elegance.

Best outfit: The long-sleeved silver metallic floor-length dress.

Worst outfit: None!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
