'Same Old Love', the second single off Selena Gomez's upcoming LP, Revival, dropped last night, alongside its almost-nude artwork and official tracklist (there are 11 in standard, 16 in deluxe).
The song, which features Charli XCX in the chorus, is a very slow poppy tune about a troubled past relationship. We all can guess who it might be about but checkout the intense lyrics: "Take away your things and go, you can’t take back what you said, I know, I’ve heard it all before at least a million times, I’m not one to forget, you’d know."
But, I'm not loving it as much as 'Good For You'. The first single is sexy as fuck and it got this whole slick and minimalism which I love very very much, BUT 'Same Old Love' is nothing like that. It's slow but it wasn't as moan-ish as the former.
Gomez stated previously that her new record is inspired by Christina Aguilera's magnum opus, Stripped, but IMO this preview track got none of that.
It is still early to predict how Revival will actually sounds like, and judging by the looks of it, it'll be a pretty decent record. Drop me summore sexy previews, Selly!
Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars.
