Music Video Review | Azealia Banks - Ice Princess

Azealia Banks
Ice Princess - Single
Azealia Banks / Caroline / Prospect Park
Release date: November 7, 2014 (Single) / March 31, 2015 (Music Video)

Move over Elsa, here comes the baddest bitch in this part of the tundra.

What can we say, Azealia Banks continues to prove that she has the music to match the mouth. Known more for her frequent spars with other artists (Angel Haze and Iggy Azalea in particular), Miss Banks's music has been in the back-burner for a while but evidently no longer. The fierce rapper has just released the video for 'Ice Princess', one of her more chilled out dance tracks in her remarkable debut album Broke with Expensive Taste.

In what has to be one of the best animated music videos ever, Azealia appears as the Medusa-like ice cold leader of an army of robots in a frozen land. CGI-ed into the body of the animated Ice Princess, the fierce rapper captures the emotions of her character vividly, as she fights the evil gigantic particles spewed by a volcano. As the released crystallites are red in colour, which completely clashes with Azealia's blue and white kingdom, she decides to take it down by sealing it up. In sudden turn of events however, her robot soldiers turn on her and end up drilling the volcano open, causing it to explode and destroy the Ice Princess in the process. RIP.

P/s: Don't like her whiteface tho. She could have easily been a black Ice Princess.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.
