Beyoncé
Flawless (Remix) (feat. Nicki Minaj) - Single
Parkwood / Columbia
Release date: August 2, 2014
What Queen Bey wants, she gets. And this time she's out for blood; of the rumour-mongers and prying-haters.
When you're the Queen and you know your subjects are losing grip of the reality – of the fact that whatever that doesn't come out of your mouth or appear on your Instagram is irrelevant and fictitious – you got to whip them back in shape. That's exactly what HRH Beyoncé has transacted when everyone least expected it: dropping a nuclear track and subsequently leaving the world deeply shaken till to date.
Addressing persistent grapevine bruits that has clearly irked the royalty, Mrs. Carter sends out a seething warning to all who question her grip on the throne, as she swiftly puts them in their places through effortless verses. She even repeats a line ("Of course sometime shit go down when it’s a billion dollars on an elevator") just in case you didn't hear her the first time. Such benevolence, such compassion. In case anyone was STILL oblivious to the force of her wrath, she let's her HELP to do the rest of the dirty work for her.
Oohhniikuhh..
And she came. She came carrying all of hellfire, all fury, all fierce, all fume. She murdered them cynics, she slew them naysayers, and she buried them dissenters. She was sick, she was angry and she was Nicki Minaj at her savagest, ready to tear apart weaves from scalps and tendons from bones. She did postpone, albeit unsuccessfully, her own single for the Queen after all.
Rating: 6 out of 5 stars.
P/s: Sorry, the Queen earned an extra mark from us.
