LP Review | Kylie Minogue - Fever

Kylie Minogue
Fever
Parlophone
Release date: October 1, 2001

By Shawal Ras

Kylie Minogue's eighth studio album, Fever, is probably her biggest album to date. Peaked at no.3 in Billboard 200, Fever is Minogue's highest charting album and her second record to achieved mainstream success in the US (the first would be 1989's Enjoy Yourself).

Thematically, Fever discusses about love, fun and enjoyment. There's no ballad in this album, but a lot of dance pop tunes. Sure the first single 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' is great but I love the other tracks such as 'In Your Eyes', 'Love at First Sight', 'Fever', and my number one choice, 'Burning Up'. Yes, the latter is a song described as "slow dance", in which it starts off pretty slow then at the chorus, it turns into a head banging club number. Other than the tracks, I love the minimalistic feature of this album. It is sleek, futuristic and very modern of her. Thoroughly, Fever is perfectly done and there is no reason why this album should flop in the US.

So, if you're looking for a more disco record, Fever is it! You wanna know how hot is this album? Check out the music video for 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' and stare at that risque white dress she wore in the second part - ooh la la!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
