LP Review | Kylie Minogue - Aphrodite

Kylie Minogue
Aphrodite
Parlophone
Release date: July 5, 2010

In 2010, Australian pop star, Kylie Minogue, released her eleventh album, Aphrodite.  Unlike her previous album, X, Aphrodite is filled with electronic and disco-pop tunes that are sure gonna sound great on a mid-day listening session with your friends (or all by yourself, no judgement here).

Aphrodite is a very cohesive pop album with a great deal of Greek and Roman mythologies as its core theme. It discusses about that euphoric feeling of being in love and I am certain every human beings are familiar with that. 'All the Lovers' opens up the album with a great note, all thanks to that 70's vibe of synth sound at the background - oh I love it 'cos it sounds perfect with the beats and lyrics. Other than that, tracks like 'Get Outta My Way', 'Everything is Beautiful', 'Illusion' and 'Cupid Boy' are some of my favorites from this LP.

To tell you the truth, this album is kinda a comeback of Minogue to her true disco root. Although I love the fact that she was doing that whole jazz and urban pop in X, but this one takes me back to her pre-Fever era: she sounds confident, playful and full of imagination. Why play with mainstream style of music when she can actually produce a great pop record without losing some sense of individuality to her works. You better get this one, people!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
