Music Video Review | Lady Gaga - G.U.Y.

Lady Gaga
G.U.Y. - Single
Streamline / Interscope
Release date: April 8, 2014 (Single) / March 22, 2014 (Music Video)

My lady has returned! After a long break since her last music video (remember 'Applause'?), Lady Gaga returned to the world with a brand new music video, 'G.U.Y.', an 8 minutes (or 11 minutes, including credit) short movie which serves as an ARTPOP film.

I'm not so crazy about the song (I am, in fact, still waiting for 'Do What You Want' video, Gaga!), but I am deeply in love with the music video. Sure it's a damn long and over the top Gaga's manifesto, but I don't really care anymore 'cos she looks beautiful and it's a reminiscence of her old days, a trip back to 'Poker Face' thanks to that overzealous mansion, dance routines and the always gorgeous white hair.

Do I really have to give this a rating? Well, it's a full five stars, to be honest. That Roman-cum-Egypt scene is my favourite of all scenes in this music video. Again, she is uber gorgeous and gold pretty much compliments her skin. I'm gonna go ahead and guess that the whole outfits are made and done by Versace? Yes, I think so.

Glad to have you back, Stefani.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.

Karmin is gonna be big this year! They'll finally release their long awaited debut album, Pulses, in just one week, and you know what, as a present for their fans, the group is doing a pre-listening party via Amazon and let me tell you this: I kinda love the album (not fully, but there's a lot of love from me).

EP Review | Lovelife - Feel

Lovelife
Feel (EP)
(Independent)
Release date: February 4, 2014

By Shawal Ras

I was browsing through iTunes today and discovered this band called Lovelife. There's not much information about them but they're a synthpop group from the US (if I'm wrong, do tell!). Their Facebook page only got few hundred of fans, but that doesn't mean they're not great.

Single Review | Passenger - Let Her Go

Passenger
Let Her Go - Single
Embassy of Music / Black Crow / Sony / Warner / Nettwerk
Release date: July 24, 2012

First of all, I'm obsessed with Passenger's 'Let Her Go'. I'm such a slow poke this time since the single is released way back in 2012, like, two years ago, and no one is aware of it until mid last year. For your information, Passenger is initially a group, but the band dissolved back in 2009 after ten years of being together, and the front man, Michael David Rosenberg, decided to keep the group's name for his solo project.

'Let Her Go' is a folk-pop which sounds amazing thanks to its simple tempo. I do agree, Rosenberg's vocal is so distinct, it does compliment the music arrangement quite well. In my opinion, the song's generic lyrics makes it super catchy and successful. Despite the simplicity of 'Let Her Go', the arrangement, tempo and amplitude changes, creating that perfect sound with a simple percussive drum beat suitable for one slow dance with your missus.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Single Review | Emmelie de Forest - Rainmaker

Emmelie de Forest
Rainmaker - Single
Universal Music Denmark
Release date: February 21, 2014

Last year's winner of Eurovision Song Contest, Emmelie de Forest, is back with a brand new single (and officially the song for this year's competition) called 'Rainmaker'.

The premise of 'Rainmaker' is pretty simple, it's about people coming together, helping each other and being blessed by God - basically the message behind the word 'Rainmaker' itself. The tribal feel of the song reminds me a lot of her winning song, 'Only Teardrops'.

There's no video for the song yet, but I'm hoping there'll be one 'cos I love seeing de Forest in her Bohemian-chic style. Just look at the cover art for this single, pretty divine, aight?
